Career Advancement

This coaching program is designed for higher education professionals who want to move to a new position within 3 to 6 months. Together, we identify what type of position is the best fit for you and how to prepare to be a top candidate. That includes application materials review, interview preparation, and mindset. Typically, we focus on improving self-confidence, executive presence, communication skills, and ability to influence.

This Coaching Program Is Perfect For You If

  • You are an Executive Director, Associate/Assistant Dean, Dean, Associate/Assistant VP or Provost, Vice President, or Vice Chancellor.

  • You have outgrown your current position and you are ready for a higher level of responsibilities.

  • Or perhaps the conditions have changed and your job is no longer a good fit for you (e.g. new leadership, reorganization, additional responsibilities, difficult co-workers, or anything else that you can no longer accept).

  • It is not only about getting a bigger paycheck or higher status. You want to feel passionate about your job and find meaning and fulfillment in your work.

  • In some cases, you might feel conflicted. Perhaps you feel under-appreciated and have forgotten what a tremendous asset you can be to a new institution. Or maybe your loyalty and attachment to your current workplace make it difficult to leave. Together, we will address any obstacles you perceive to your career advancement.

How We Will Work Together

This is a one-on-one coaching program, giving us the flexibility to personalize our sessions to your unique goals, circumstances, and personal preferences. This program typically includes 12 or 18 one-hour sessions (by phone or zoom). Depending on your timeline and how much time you can dedicate to your job search and your personal development, you can choose to do it in 3 months or 6 months.

Our work together will include career planning, job applications, interviews, and most importantly mindset, self-empowerment, leadership, and personal transformation. We will define your initial coaching goals during our first call and make adjustments when needed.

What to Expect

When you do this on your own, even if you have supportive friends and family, job search in higher education administration can be an intimidating and lonely process. There can be doubt and procrastination during the application process, excitement and fear when invited for an interview, hope while waiting for a response, and disappointment (sometimes discouragement) when you don’t get selected. To make matters worse, stress and challenges in your current position can affect your self-confidence and ability to shine at interviews.

But you don’t have to do this alone. Imagine how it would feel to have me by your side, keeping you strong, empowered, trusting in your success, and getting rid of fears, doubts and other obstacles to your success. Imagine becoming a more empowered version of yourself and how your personal transformation will benefit all aspects of your life. It is exciting, isn’t it? I can hardly wait to see you blossom and be chosen for your next position.

While I cannot guarantee you will be selected for the exact job at the specific institution you may think of today (no coach in the world can promise that!) our goal will be for you to start a new position where you can be yourself, express your unique talents, have impact, thrive, and feel appreciated.

The Best Investment You Can Ever Make

The best investment you can ever make is in yourself. As a higher education professional, you understand the value of acquiring new skills that will make you more successful in the workplace. And there is so much more at stake here!

Look at the salary of your dream job versus your current job’s compensation. The difference is your opportunity cost. Not having this job yet is costing you this much in income not earned.

Most importantly, what is it costing you emotionally to be unhappy at your current position? What is the price of stress, regret, overwhelm, and/or sacrifice?  Your current situation is costing you too much!  A coaching program is a reasonable investment to transform your life and career. You can see the rates here.
